The Broncos meet the winless Raiders in Oakland Sunday, a week after Denver was trounced by the Patriots.
The Denver Broncos are coming off a loss, and that means bad news for the winless Oakland Raiders. Peyton Manning loves to dissect a bad defense, and that's what he's prepping to do right now—leaving the Silver & Black on the spot for Sunday's game at the Coliseum against the defending AFC champs.
The Oakland Raiders dropped to 0-8 on the season, dropping a 30-24 decision on the road to the Seattle Seahawks. The Silver & Black had a chance with an onside kick, but they couldn't recover it. They were doomed in the first half by several mistakes that led to a 21-point deficit at halftime, and now the team must regroup—again.
In the modern NFL, only four teams have gone through a winless season: the 1960 Dallas Cowboys, the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 1982 Baltimore Colts and the 2008 Detroit Lions. If the Raiders can't win this weekend in Cleveland, they could be looking at an 0-11 start—and that's when the pressure will start to mount. Avoiding membership in this exclusive club will be paramount for the Silver & Black.
So much for staying healthy after the bye week. The Oakland Raiders' official injury list almost doubled this week from last, as eight players are nursing sore body parts. How that will impact Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals at the Coliseum is still not clear.
The New England Patriots are going in one direction and the New York Jets are going in another. On "Thursday Night Football," the teams are going to face off in an AFC East battle that may not be nearly as competitive as it has been in past years. Former NFL quarterback Trent Green took some time to speak with me regarding both teams, injuries, and their direction for the season.
hese divisional rivals are going in opposite directions. After a season-opening victory, the Jets have lost five in a row. While they had a chance against Green Bay and Chicago in Weeks 2 and 3, they've gone backwards from there.

The Oakland Raiders continued their up-down season on Sunday in London against the Miami Dolphins, and unfortunately, this was another down week for the Silver & Black as they lost to the Miami Dolphins, 38-14. Nothing went right for Oakland, and the team is now 0-4 this season heading into their bye week.
Oakland Raiders Head Coach Dennis Allen has just eight wins in 35 games leading the Silver & Black. With the team's Week Four matchup in London against the Miami Dolphins suddenly looking like a winnable game, it's natural to ask if losing this one in front of an international audience will cost Allen his job with the team.
There are two things going for the Oakland Raiders this week, as they prepare for their Week Four game in London, England: first, they play the Miami Dolphins, and second, the game is at a neutral site. The Silver & Black can beat the Dolphins, and they won't have the pressure of performing in front of a home crowd.
The Oakland Raiders were driving for the tying touchdown against the New England Patriots on the road late in the fourth quarter when disaster struck: a deflected interception ended the game with the Raiders coming up short, 16-9. The defense did its job for once; the offense did not.
What would his life be like if he wasn't the most well known quarterback in the NFL?
The Oakland Raiders defense isn't very good even when healthy, but with multiple injuries to key players on the defensive side of the ball, the Silver & Black may be in for a long day on Sunday in New England.
Diehard fans may want to close their eyes: with an 0-2 start and staring at possible 0-6 start now, the Oakland Raiders will be hard-pressed to avoid two ugly fates in 2014: they could end up worse than the 4-12 record they posted last year, and they could end up as the worst team in the NFL.
The Oakland Raiders are 0-2 with no relief in sight, as they travel to New England to take on the Patriots in Week Three. That's not the remedy for what ails the Silver & Black, of course, so it could be an ugly week for the team. Be prepared, Oakland fans, for a disastrous road trip.
It was an ugly, ugly day for the Oakland Raiders in their 2014 home opener, as the offense couldn't get anything going until late, and the defense did a Swiss cheese impression from the opening whistle.
