A bridge on Long Island that was repeatedly hit by trucks has now been raised.
The more than 2,200 agents will provide face-to-face customer service to passengers.
Subway station workers are coming face-to-face with customers for the first time. They're no longer in those iconic booths. Instead, they're answering questions and helping riders with the OMNY tap-to-pay system, which will soon replace MetroCards. CBS2's Alice Gainer checked in with one MTA worker to see how day one was going.
Some Yankee fans got a special ride to Yankee Stadium for Opening Day on Thursday.

The growing calls for better service were a hot topic at an MTA board meeting on Wednesday.

"I have the right to same and equal service as every single taxpayer," one disabled rider told CBS2.
The agency also announced the opening of three new customer service centers.
As part of the effort, station agents will now be out of the booths to provide customer service.
The New York state comptroller says before COVID, the MTA saw well over 125 million riders per month.
Riders have returned to the subway, but the MTA says numbers are still below pre-pandemic levels.
The MTA is announcing the second phase of its Open Stroller pilot program for the city.
