Emerging unscathed
Hillary Clinton may not have been the most authentic candidate in the first Democratic debate, but she made the case she's the best one to take on the GOP, says CBSNews.com's Stephanie Condon.

Agreement moment
Bernie Sanders won over Clinton and the debate audience -- and possibly Donald Trump -- with his reaction to the Clinton email controversy.

On the attack
Clinton hit Sanders hard during the debate on the politically charged issue of gun control, leaving the Vermont senator on the defensive.

Mideast violence
Israel is deploying hundreds of troops to its own cities in response to a new series of deadly assaults. Palestinians have been targeting Israeli civilians and soldiers in shooting and stabbing attacks. CBS News correspondent Elizabeth Palmer reports on the rising death toll.

Big-game hunting corruption
Zimbabwe announced this week it would not charge a Minnesota dentist who hunted a popular lion. But Cecil's killing has brought worldwide attention to big-game hunting. Critics say the controversial practice is full of corruption. CBS News correspondent Debora Patta reports from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, with a rare look inside the country's hunting culture.

Unfair or shrewd?
The controversy over DraftKings employee Ethan Haskell winning $350,000 in a fantasy sports contest centers on suspicions that he may have benefited from inside information. But a statistical analysis for CBS MoneyWatch suggests he may have had another skill, and one characteristic of great investors: finding value where others see none.

Medicare alert
Many insurance companies that offer drug plans under Medicare are cutting back on benefits. For unwary consumers, that could mean paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars more next year. Here's how to be sure your drug plan will take care of the bills in 2016.

Undeterred
Diagnosed with breast cancer at age 40, Davina McNaney didn't let a double mastectomy slow her down for long. She decided to celebrate life and raise money for cancer research with a 15-day, 467-mile run across four states. "Nothing was going to stop me," she tells CBS News in part one of our series, "Stories of Survivors."

Bittersweet victory
In her weekly blog for CBSNews.com's Crimesider, Assistant Broward County, Florida Public Defender Kim Segal describes maneuvering to help a woman charged with a minor offense whose many burdens include trying to raise a severely autistic child.

Tower Records
For years, Tower Records served as a go-to spot for all things music. But that all ended when the company filed for bankruptcy in 2006, shutting its stores worldwide. The story will come to life on the big screen this weekend in the form of a documentary directed by Colin Hanks, star of the CBS sitcom, "Life in Pieces."
