A spokesperson for MSP Airport says the cancellations were due to snow and strong winds. They were only operating with one runway at a time to allow crews to plow the fresh snow off the runways.
Most of the storm has already passed, but Minnesotans are still sharing their photos of the snow and the winter landscape.
While many are inside watching snow pile up, there is concern for the unsheltered. Many of those living on the street are veterans, and work is underway to get them out of the storm.
"The county is very happy we came to an agreement. We have been working with the union on a collective bargaining agreement since October," Chase Burnham, Chisago County Administrator said.
Many Minnesotans wasted no time hitting the sledding hills and ski trails Wednesday morning.
"Just trying to be helpful," Wunderlan said. "Some of the people in the neighborhood are not able to get out and shovel, so I just kind of run, do a quick up and down the block just to help out."
Driving conditions will deteriorate in the Twin Cities quickly Wednesday evening, but the worst driving conditions in the Twin Cities metro will mostly likely be Thursday from 4 to 7 a.m., when a band of heavy snow looks likely to move through.
Round two of the snowstorm is in full effect, and you can expect heavy snow and strong winds to continue until lunchtime Thursday.
City officials said they have plowed and treated streets to keep them drivable, but more snow is expected later Wednesday evening going into Thursday.
