The residents said this was not the first time, as they told CBS 2's Sara Machi about the escalating problem.
"Saturday morning, I saw a couple of cars that had been broken into, about five to six cars driver-side windows busted out and everything."
More than 40 cars have been targeted just this month, mostly in the South Loop. CBS 2's Charlie De Mar spoke to one of those victims and has the story from a parking lot impacted.

In each case, armed robbers approach victims on the street and steal their property while threatening force.
An unidentified man between 40-50 years of age was shot in the torso and taken to Stroger where he later died. A second man was also taken to the hospital in fair condition.
According to prosecutors, the suspect was on the platform when both he and the 28-year-old victim threw rival gang signs at each other.
