The boy's mom, LaParis Jordan, has identified him as 7-year-old Aden Corothers. She said he was in good spirits as he was about to go get stitches Sunday evening and he would be kept at the hospital overnight for observation.
The boy was near the sidewalk in the 6000 block of South Elizabeth just after 7 p.m. when he was struck.
He heard a loud noise from inside the home during a gathering and noticed he had been shot in the thigh.
