Incredibly, the current storm's center is 1000 miles to our East and while it isn't directly impacting us, moisture on its western flank is getting squeezed out by a pinching off vort lobe.
The large ocean storm responsible for a foot of snow over the Cape is still spinning hundreds of miles offshore and will continue to impact the area through early Thursday morning. We remain on the fringe of this monster occasionally getting some drops or flakes tonight under cyclonic flow
Yes we have model consensus one more time, this time however it's in the other direction. This has been a fun ride and just think...this storm still really hasn't gotten cranking yet! So now that the models essentially show a miss with no more than an inch or so for the Cape could it all swing back west?
Well, things certainly have gotten more interesting since we last spoke...all of a sudden the odds of getting a big snowstorm have gone way up!

It's 10:30 and flurries are falling in Boston right now...kind of nice! This weak disturbance is flying by and will leave behind coatings especially from the Pike South including the south shore and maybe even the Cape and Islands.
My thoughts from last night actually still stand. I still expect widespread dustings tomorrow night to as much as an inch as models typically underestimate warm air advection clouds and precip.

When it's early in the season and we get a cold outbreak we might as well have snow too...trust me I won't be saying this in February...but enough with the rain!
Pretty intense squall line pushing through now...along it, 50 mph winds are mixing down in the downpours. Worst is almost over, however, as occlusion will be through by midnight and drier, less intense W/NW winds will take over.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving it was a pleasant day...cold the way it should be and calm...when there isn't much wind it makes all the difference!
The strong wind is settling down but it did the job of transporting in cold air. The high today was 51 but that is deceiving because it was set just after midnight...temps actually fell or stayed steady for most daylight
Judging by the backup on the Mass Pike this evening the holiday rush has begun and weather-wise it's begun without a hitch. We just had a coldfront slip through with only a few sprinkles along it and the roads stayed dry
We are looking at a lot of changes and transitions this week and we are in the middle of one right now. After a cold weekend temps are rebounding nicely and will top out in the lower 60s tomorrow afternoon. As this warmth works
Hey, anytime you get a dry weekend you have to be happy but there will be some issues when spending time outside.
A coldfront is working through the Northeast right now not much action along but there are a few rain and snow showers mostly diving south of us with an associated vort max. There is a second vort max behind the first triggering
An area of low pressure will swing up the Appalacians then into Canada...traveling to our west then north...keeping us on the warmer side of the storm assuring us of a warm rain and some very warm, briefly, air! Temps tonight will actually stay steady then rise late sa southerly winds begin to pick up with a warmfrontal passage around dawn
