It was one of the first major U.S. events canceled because of COVID-19 and next year the South by Southwest Festival in Austin is taking no chances. On Wednesday they announced plans for both a digital and in-person event for 2021.
The 10-day online event in late April will be free to viewers with or without an Amazon Prime membership.
South by Southwest, the sprawling Austin conference and festival, was one of the first major gatherings canceled by the coronavirus pandemic.
In an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, the City of Austin became the latest Texas community to prohibit large gatherings.
"The show must go on is in our DNA, and this is the first time in 34 years that the March event will not take place," SXSW said.
