Video captures 2 of 17 South Side car thefts since beginning of month
A total of 11 cars have been stolen this month during the evening and early morning hours—the latest two were taken on Saturday.

A total of 11 cars have been stolen this month during the evening and early morning hours—the latest two were taken on Saturday.
It happened on Nov. 26 between 2 and 4:45 p.m. in the 3600 block of North Winthrop Avenue.
Police did not specify what the relationship was believed to be between the shooting and the crash.
Surveillance photos captured the suspect, who they said entered a yard in the 1800 block of West Balmoral Avenue on Nov. 29 around 2:30 a.m.
The fire was under control in under an hour, and the scene was cleared just after 7 a.m.
Chicago police said the woman was inside her residence when an unknown male entered and opened fire–hitting her about the body.
The ages of the victims range from 17 to 50.
In three of these incidents, the victims observed the offender following them before the robbery occurred.
Des Plaines police said just before 3 a.m., two men in a white Nissan Altima were traveling through the parking lot when they got out wearing ski masks and approached the first victim, a 32-year-old man from Itasca.
A 65-year-old man died at the scene. The second victim, an 88-year-old woman, was taken to West Suburban Hospital, where she died.
Police said preliminary information suggests that the incident was isolated and there is no threat to the community.
This comes just days after a Democratic Party Caucus for Thornton Township resulted in Henyard being left out on the ballot for reelection in April.
Andres D. Adan, 20, of Harvey, Illinois, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm along with additional traffic offenses.
Police said the 17-year-old boy was near the sidewalk when he was approached by an unknown vehicle, and someone from inside fired shots.
Police said the pair approached the passenger on the train and attempted to take their belongings.
