Their identities were not released as they were juveniles at the time of the crime.
The two entered the businesses, taking items and money from inside, before leaving the scene and heading northwest through an alley.
Officers saw and attempted to approach the teen, who then ran into a residence, where officers initiated a SWAT incident.
The victim, identified as Austin Stanek, 24, of Island Lake, Illinois, was taken to Advocate Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington, where he died.
The incidents happened on Saturday in the Chatham, Little Italy, and Auburn Gresham neighborhoods
State police said troopers responded to the scene for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a school bus with students and adult administrators onborad.
It happened just after 3 a.m. at the Sunnyside Cannabis Dispensary in the 400 block of North Clark Street.
Victor Rivas-Martinez Jr., 22, of Waukegan, was arrested and charged with failure to remain on the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, not having a valid driver's license and no proof of insurance.
Chicago police said officers responded to a disturbance and found multiple males outside. During this, the officers saw one of them pull out a firearm and fired shots in their direction.
Troopers and fire crews responded to the scene, finding four vehicles involved in the crash.
The ages of the victims range from 20 to 41.
Derrick Willman, 58, appeared in court Friday afternoon charged with one count of indecent solicitation of a child-aggravated criminal sexual abuse, one count of traveling to meet a minor, one count of child sex offender/communicate through the internet, and one count of grooming.
