Chicago weekend shootings leave at least 9 people hurt, CPD says

Police said the ages of the victims in this weekend's shootings range from 15 to 70.
According to Chicago police, the victims were shot following an argument between an unknown male and a group of other males on a CTA Bus that turned into a fight.
Palatine police said 14-year-old Anilegna "Anni" Venegas was last seen leaving her home on foot, but said she may have been picked up by an unknown vehicle.
Chicago police said the suspect shot and wounded another man hours before his arrest.
The signing comes amid reports of another federal immigration surge planned in Chicago, possibly in the spring.
The advisories for Cook and Will counties in Illinois and for Lake and Porter counties in Indiana have expired.
Chicago police said that the women, 71 and 39 years of age, were on the street when they both suffered gunshot wounds from an unknown person.
The ages, genders, and conditions were not released.
The suspect is facing multiple felonies, including first-degree murder and aggravated arson.
The village said it now considers the matter closed with no further discussion.
The burglaries occurred between Jan 12 and 24 during the morning hours across eight neighborhoods, including Brighton Park and Uptown.
Melody Townsend was charged after the body of her daughter, Ana Marie Townsend, was found by first responders wrapped in plastic inside the attic of a burned, abandoned house in 2017.
Chicago police said the suspect fired shots at officers while trying to flee, but was hit by gunfire from the officers.
The schools will continue to run normally throughout the remainder of the academic year.
A 36-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy were killed in a homicide in Joliet, Illinois, on Sunday morning, according to police.
