An off-duty Riverside County Sheriff's Department lieutenant was shot and killed during a hunting accident in Idaho last weekend, department officials said on Thursday.

An off-duty Riverside County Sheriff's Department lieutenant was shot and killed during a hunting accident in Idaho last weekend, department officials said on Thursday.
Authorities are investigating the second deadly shooting to happen in Hawthorne this week, after one man was killed and another wounded on Wednesday morning.
The crash happened at around 3:15 a.m. on May 28 near 20th Street and Hoover Street, LAPD detectives said.
Police say that the man and woman were in a romantic relationship before the shooting.
A New York man was arrested in Southern California over the weekend for allegedly kidnapping a North Carolina woman and bringing her on a cross-country crime spree, authorities said on Monday.
Authorities say that the man led a ring of accomplices who targeted small businesses to steal thousands of California Lottery scratchers since 2024.
Torrance police said during the arrest, the suspect allegedly made a statement indicating he had "placed two pipe bombs in the vicinity of 208 Street and Amapola Avenue."
The suspects were arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that happened on May 27 near the 405 Freeway and Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
Police say that the victim was sitting on the front patio of the bar when they were struck by gunfire.
The shooting happened at around 9 p.m. Saturday near Vineland Avenue and Chandler Boulevard, Los Angeles Police Department detectives said.
Some homes near the 18000 block of Woodcroft Street were evacuated after a suspicious device was discovered on Sunday.
An incoming storm, powered by the lingering bits of Tropical Storm Priscilla in the Pacific Ocean, could bring heavy rain and flooding to parts of Southern California to start the week.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
It's unclear where the chase began.
Naythan Vasquez, 16, was fatally shot on May 9, 2025. Since then, investigators have been unable to identify and arrest his killer.
