Armed suspect fatally shot by deputy in Ellis County, officials say

The sheriff's office said at about 3:36 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were called to the 100 block of Carol Lane in Red Oak regarding a disturbance.
When officers arrived, the suspect, who was still armed with a knife, was standing outside the entrance of the restaurant.

Police say both shootings were connected and stemmed from a financial dispute between the suspect and the victims.
Officers said there is no ongoing threat to the public and that the investigation remains ongoing.
Responding officers, with assistance from Haltom City Police, established a perimeter to initiate contact and begin negotiations with the suspect, officials said.
According to the city, a little after 1:20 p.m., the line was struck at the intersection of Hundley Drive and Lakeview Drive.
Richardson PD said officers located a person who matched the suspect's description walking east of the business and attempted to make contact.
According to police, at about 6 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the incident at a home in the 300 block of Tarpan Trail.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Mark Williams, of Grimes, Texas, is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police said Garrett Michael Davis has been charged with felony voyeurism and placed on administrative leave.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and will investigate the cause of the crash.
Dallas Fire-Rescue told CBS News Texas that at about 1:50 a.m., crews were called to the blaze at a home in the 2600 block of Birmingham Avenue.
According to the city, at about 9 a.m. Thursday, a 16-inch water line at McLeroy Boulevard and Saginaw Boulevard was struck by a contractor.
This comes on the heels of the first public hearing over last summer's Fourth of July floods that killed more than 100 people across the Hill Country, including 27 girls at Camp Mystic.
