Two veteran Miami police officers are recovering after being shot while responding to a ShotSpotter alert tied to a domestic dispute, an incident that led to an hours-long standoff ending with the suspected gunman, 27-year-old Mason Triana, found dead inside the home.
Two officers were shot, one in the knee and the other in the ankle, according to the Miami Police Department. Both injured law enforcement agents, a male sergeant and a female officer, were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and are in good spirits with non-life-threatening injuries.
A nearly four-hour standoff in Allapattah ended when police found 27-year-old Mason Triana dead from a gunshot wound after he allegedly shot two Miami officers during a domestic dispute with his brother, officials said.
Property records show the house is valued at $2.6 million and is located just north of Broward Boulevard at Northwest 120th Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene, shots were fired at them, and they immediately returned fire.
