"We talk about heroes and then you get a chance to meet one," said Gov. Gavin Newsom after visiting Brandon Tsay's home. The 26-year-old has been hailed as a hero after he disarmed the man who killed at least 11 people in Monterey Park.
The suspect in a mass shooting in Monterey Park, that left 10 dead and another 10 wounded has died, law enforcement confirmed Sunday.
"I can't believe these poor people never knew it was coming," said Mary Alvarado, a Monterey Park resident who left the Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday just moments before the shooting.
Investigators identified the shooter as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran.
A high wind warning has been issued for parts of Los Angeles County Monday until 9 a.m. by the National Weather Service.

An explosion caused extensive damage to four electrical vaults in downtown Los Angeles early Monday morning.
According to witnesses, Ming Wei Ma was the owner of the Star Dance Studio. Seven of the 10 injured in the shooting remain at the hospital.
"Gun violence needs to stop, there is too much of it," said LA County Sheriff Robert Luna. "We're all standing here tonight because an individual took a weapon and did the damage that we've been talking about."
"I just saw him, to shoot, to hold the gun, so I run... and I hide myself," said the witness who wished to stay anonymous.
