ISP said that a window of the vehicle was left shattered. All lanes were reopened in less than an hour.
Troopers responded to the scene for a report of an expressway shooting. Upon arrival, the rideshare driver told them they were shot at.
The trooper was going through the intersection of Route 59 and Higgins Road with his lights and sirens on, when another vehicle hit his squad car.
The age, gender, and condition of the victim were not released.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as a 35-year-old man, died from his injuries.
