When officers arrived, they saw a gunman shooting at an individual on the ground. The suspect then fired at officers, hitting their squad car.
A law enforcement source identified the deceased shooter suspect as a 17-year-old female student at the school.
Madison police said the suspect is also dead, and there is no threat to the community.
According to Madison police, multiple injuries were reported at the school located at 4901 East Buckeye Road.
Chicago police said the victim was found on the third floor of the apartment with gunshot wounds to the face and chest.

Chicago police said around 10:30 p.m., an unknown male was attempting to break into a vehicle in the 8700 block of South Dauphin Avenue when a man, 40, a resident and CCL holder, went outside and confronted the offender.
The offender became aware of the man and fled the scene on foot. Another unknown male exited a vehicle nearby and shot at the 40-year-old male, who then returned fire.
The man was hit in the head by gunfire and then crashed into two parked vehicles before coming to a stop.
Chicago police said a female witness inside the home told them that she heard shots and found the victims in the living room with gunshot wounds.

Police said that the suspect is a known street gang member.
Giovanni A. Saldivar, 19, was charged with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer, aggravated battery with the use of a firearm, and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
