After calling for more regulations on data centers in Texas last month, Governor Greg Abbott has taken a step further and said AI data centers shouldn't be built in rural Texas neighborhoods. The Governor spoke days after Democratic candidate for Governor, State Representative Gina Hinojosa of Austin, blasted him on the issue.
As the GOP looks forward to a first-ever midterm convention, Texas Democrats say they're looking to make major moves this election cycle.
"These folks in Texas are looking for leaders that have solutions for their problems," said Texas Democratic Party Chairman Kendall Scudder. "And that's what I'm wanting the party to do."
The Governor spoke days after Democratic candidate for Governor, State Representative Gina Hinojosa of Austin, blasted him on the issue.
The event will take place on Sept. 9 -10 at the American Airlines Center, where President Trump spoke during his first campaign 10 years ago.

Fresh off her recent election as Texas GOP Chair, D'rinda Randall told CBS News Texas she has a plan to unite her party before the midterms in November. "The party is fractured. I'm not going to say that it's not," Randall told Jack Fink. "The infighting has been pretty high. But with the race that I just won, all I ran on was 'I have a plan, and I have a plan for the Republican Party of Texas to succeed. I have a plan for the midterms.'" Randall said she wants to engage the young people who have gotten involved in politics.
New polls show the Texas Senate race between Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico remains very tight with four months until the November midterm election. Looking at the four most recent independent polls between June 1 and 21st, they show Paxton ahead of Talarico by a hair-splitting 1.25 percentage points. Paxton has 45.75%, and Talarico has 44.5%. President Trump and other Republican leaders, including Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, have said they will campaign in Texas for Paxton. As previously reported, Paxton reportedly said during a recent tele-town hall that Republicans will hold a special midterm convention at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. A source told CBS News Texas that the first two weeks of the facility have been reserved by the RNC, but it has not been officially booked yet.
