A new report is naming the Top 25 up-and-coming job fields for Millennials. The advocacy group Young Invincibles examined government data on pay, projected growth and the share of young people working in each job.
It is not the same as college; it is no longer just regurgitating what the professor wants. It requires deep thought and analytical skills.
"Not only will [a master's degree] provide you with a competitive advantage in the workforce, but it will also re-energize you in your current situation," says Ryan O'Neil.
"As a human resources leader, consultant and entrepreneur, the [master's] degrees gave me the added value for executive leadership and strengthen my business acumen," says Dexter Coleman.
Customer service reps are employed in nearly every sector of the economy and here in Texas, they earn a mean wage of nearly $38,000. But for high performers in industries like cable companies; insurance carriers; and professional, scientific, and technical services, income can rise to above $47,000.
Elise Shankle decided to pursue a master's degree in nursing because I saw the need of health promotion and disease prevention in my community.
"[Continuing education] is really not about how smart you are; it is about your goals, ambition and perseverance," says Dr. Sonia Schwalen.
"You only get one shot at living. If the path you choose to take includes obtaining a master's degree, then go for it!" says Tara L. Paige.
There's good news for some workers as competition heats up to lure talent. Starting salaries in professional occupations are expected to increase an average of 4.1-percent in 2016.
"I want to give back to a career field that has made me the person I am today. I want to give perspectives to the future professionals of the criminal justice system," says Lavigne.
With the recent news of Facebook building a $1 billion data center in Fort Worth, the North Texas area is proving to be fertile ground for sprouting new businesses and expanding existing ones.
"[A master's degree] exposes you to a broader range of perspectives, relationships and learning that is valuable throughout life," says Jon Mellon.

Individuals suffering from eating disorders are often misunderstood. I have the opportunity to spread education about these individuals.
"I am able to use my degree as leverage when applying for positions that require a bachelor's degree with certain years of experience. Often, I can substitute education for work experience."
Heading back to school might not just be for kids. A career in education can offer the flexibility and growth that many people are seeking in a job.
"Many people believe that pursuing advanced degrees will help them discover their passions and interests. But I believe that it should be the other way around - you should pursue a master's degree if you want to fine-tune your experience in the field of study you're in."
