Michael Spencer

Michael Spencer began anchoring CBS Colorado newscasts at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. in 2023. Prior to that, he worked as the main sports anchor at CBS News Colorado, a position he held for seven years.

Michael is actively involved in the community and works closely with the Children's Diabetes Foundation, Donor Alliance, and TAPS -- Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.

Michael lives with his wife Hailey and their two daughters. When he's not anchoring the news, you can find Michael and his family enjoying our local parks, exploring the vibrant culinary scene, or checking out a sporting event.

"Colorado is a wonderful place and has so much to offer, and that's one of the many reasons why we love calling it home," Michael says.

His first assignment at CBS Colorado was going to the White House to cover the Super Bowl 50 Champion Denver Broncos when they met with President Obama. He went on to host numerous sports program on the CBS Colorado airwaves over those seven years and traveled to cities around the country to cover the NFL. Michael also led CBS Colorado's coverage of the Denver Nuggets 2023 NBA Championship, the Colorado Avalanche 2022 Stanley Cup Championship and the 2021 MLB All-Star Game in Denver.

Michael's career started at the University of Missouri. After graduation he worked for KMID-TV in Midland, Texas before moving to KAMR-TV in Amarillo, Texas. After Amarillo, Michael moved to WATE-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee before landing a job at CBS News Colorado.
