In 2024, Austin appeared in the blockbuster film Bad Boys: Ride or Die, playing a newscaster as actors Will Smith and Martin Lawrence returned to the streets of Miami as detectives. His role was filmed in the CBS News Miami studios.
Austin first joined CBS4 as a general assignment reporter in 2021.
Before that, he spent more than three years as a reporter and weather anchor at 13 Action News (KTNV) in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he covered major stories including the shutdown of the Las Vegas Strip during the COVID-19 pandemic and the historic George Floyd protests.
Joining CBS News Miami was a homecoming for Austin, who was born and raised in South Florida.
While attending Florida Atlantic University, he worked at WPTV NewsChannel 5 in West Palm Beach as an assignment editor. Austin graduated from FAU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multimedia Studies.
