She lived in Chicago for nearly five years as a young journalist and considers the city her adopted hometown.
Asal is passionate about telling stories that will make a difference in her community and shed light on immigration issues.

Chicago police said officers responded to a report of a person shot and found a man and a woman in an alley who were hit by gunfire.
The two victims of a deadly Sheridan, Illinois shooting and house fire have been identified. Ronald Martin, Jr. is charged with their murders.
The LaSalle County Sheriff's office said Ronald W. Martin Jr., 45, was taken into custody.
