Authorities received a report that someone had killed two children and burned their bodies in a backyard fire pit.
At 5:53 p.m. Sunday, the man performed an indecent act in front of two minor children in the 6200 block of North Maplewood Avenue.
The restaurant will begin with dinner service from 4 p.m. to midnight, with plans to extend hours in the future.
The vandalism has happened at least three times in the last week in the 4700 block of South Ellis Avenue.
Two firefighters and a police officer were also taken to local hospitals.
All three victims were reported in good condition.
The 2-year-old was taken to the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital in good condition. A gun was recovered at the scene.
The ages of the victims range from 2 to 58.
Durpetti was known to treat everyone "like a long-lost relative with a firm handshake, a double kiss, or a friendly joke."
Paperbacks and textbooks were piled up outside Carl Schurz High School, at 3601 N. Milwaukee Ave. in the Irving Park neighborhood.
The Kendall County Sheriff's office did not specify the condition of the suspect, but said no officers were injured, and there was no ongoing threat to the community.
