"Senior Salute" survivor
The teenager who says she was raped by an older student at St. Paul's School, an elite boarding school in New Hampshire, is calling herself a survivor. She left court sobbing Thursday after an intense cross examination. The trial revealed a once-secret tradition at the school known as "senior salute," in which senior boys try to have sex with younger girls at the school.
Black Lives Matter & 2016 Election
The term "black lives matter" became a touchstone after a series of killings of unarmed black men by police. Now, "Black Lives Matter" is a national organization with a list of demands that include a "decrease in law-enforcement spending" and "a re-investment ... into the black communities most devastated by poverty."
Unscripted moments
Running for president can be a pretty dry process: the position papers, the press conferences, the campaign rallies - all are carefully manicured to promote a candidate's chosen message. Surprises, flubs, and unscripted moments are to be avoided, if possible. But every now and again, a candidate will hit a child in the forehead with a football, or protesters will ambush an event, and campaigns just have to make the best of it. Here's a look at 5 unscripted moments so far that have enlivened the 2016 campaign trail.
Trailblazers
Capt. Kristen Griest and 1st Lt. Shaye Haver became the first two women to graduate from the U.S. Army's grueling Ranger School. Griest and Haver spoke Thursday about their achievement.
$1M parking spots
Cities ranging from New York to London are witnessing record prices for these slivers of property, thanks to the deep pockets of wealthy residents and increasingly scarce space. Two new luxury buildings in New York are asking $1 million for a single parking slot. In San Francisco, parking spots in prime neighborhoods now fetch $125,000. And in one section of London, the price of a parking spot is higher than the average price for a home in the U.K.!
Eating on the run
These days, it seems like it's the American way to be constantly in a rush -- and eating on the way. Whether you're scarfing down breakfast on the commute to work or grabbing a bite while you dash through the mall, it's an all-too-familiar pattern. Now, research suggests this habit of eating on the go could be doing some major damage to your waistline.
Restaurant noise
With one million eateries nationwide employing 14 million people, options for dining out can be unlimited. But some restaurants are turning up more than the heat. Owners believe it is time to make some noise.
Secret Cinema
The light saber battle between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the most famous scenes from "Star Wars." But as fans wait for December's release of Episode VII, they are finding a new way to get their fix: becoming a living part of the story. Charlie D'Agata takes us inside the "Secret Cinema," hidden somewhere in London.
