The Minnesota Twins are talking to manager Ron Gardenhire about coming back, if he wants to come back. There are a lot of managerial openings projected this offseason. They are negotiating, but the bad news for Gardenhire is that the Twins are so overmatched in talent right now, and there seems to be no light at the end of any tunnel. The teams' 5-1 loss to Cleveland on Sunday concludes a miserable three-season span, with more than 90 losses in each season.
Another baseball season is in the books, and once again, there was disappointment in Twins Territory. Another 66-96 record was certainly not what fans, or the club for that matter, were hoping for. But baseball, like life, is as much about the journey as it is the destination. So how did the 2013 Twins arrive at this point?
After the Minnesota Twins fumbled, stumbled and whiffed their way through one last miserable defeat in a season full of them, many of the players walked up to manager Ron Gardenhire to give him one last handshake or hug. They had to do it on Sunday, because they know they may not get another chance. The Twins committed three errors and struck out 16 times in a 5-1 loss to the Cleveland Indians in the season finale, a game that could mark the end of Gardenhire's 12-year tenure in Minnesota.
