Wisconsin adopted a ban on abortion except to save the mother's life in 1849, a year after the territory became a state. The U.S. Supreme Court's landmark Roe v. Wade ruling that essentially legalized abortion nationwide in 1973 nullified the ban.
Minnesota and Illinois are the only states in the upper Midwest that, owing to their constitutions, will see no change to abortion access should the 1973 ruling be overturned.
Case growth are continuing to hold in a statistical plateau, hovering at 25.8 cases per 100,000 residents. That's still above the "high-risk" threshold, which is drawn at 10 cases.
Almost 70% of kids are believed to have gotten COVID at some point during the pandemic. Still, doctors say regardless if a child has had the disease, the vaccine is worth it.
"When COVID happened, at the very beginning, everyone was petrified," day care owner Julie Fees said. "To be specifically called out and asked to step up and then be eliminated because we are sole proprietors?"
