Students were told to shelter in place as police swarmed the area – until an all-clear was issued a little over half an hour later.
Police say an unknown man was in an argument with a known woman on a ship that was un-boarding. Security staff escorted the man off the ship when he returned moments later and fired multiple shots toward the ship.
The city could be just days away from having a casino, but even before it opens, it's getting mixed reviews.
The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.
"What didn't she know? Where did we fail? Did she not know that she could place this child in a loving home?" said Illinois State Sen. Sara Feigenholtz.
