The Vatican has agreed to hear an appeal from parents hoping to halt the closure of St. Hubert Catholic School in Hoffman Estates.
The district said the closures are due to "widespread storm impacts, including power outages and damage."
The closing of both schools can cause issues for seniors, including pushing back their graduations.
The schools will continue to run normally throughout the remainder of the academic year.
According to the Superintendent of Schools, Greg Richmond, low enrollment and ongoing deficits led to the decision to close the schools after months of discussion.
