Hundreds of thousands of music fans of all genres packed Grant Park for the first day of Lollapalooza 2025. But Chicago air quality is unhealthy Thursday due to smoke from Canadian wildfires.
The four-day festival runs from July 31 to August 3. Gates open at 11 a.m. each day.
A car fire has halted traffic on northbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive near Grant Park during the Friday afternoon rush.

Van Gisbergen also won the first Grant Park 165 in 2023, and won the Loop 110 in 2024.
Drivers hit the street course for the Loop 110 Xfinity Series race Saturday afternoon. Fans will be enjoying the action all weekend-long.
The 2025 NASCAR Chicago Street Race will be held July 5 and 6 around Grant Park. Road closures, traffic plans, parking restrictions and more are in place.
The Loop 110 Xfinity Cup race starts at 3:30 p.m.
