The Evanston Health and Human Services Department warned Wednesday of a norovirus outbreak linked to a $1 burrito special for Northwestern students at a local restaurant.
But opposition was not enough to stop the City of Evanston from re-zoning Northwestern's future football stadium to allow for concerts.
It's a done deal. Northwestern University is getting a revamped football stadium that will serve as a concert venue during the offseason. The Evanston City Council narrowly approved the deal late Monday night. But the plan is still facing major pushback from neighbors.
CBS 2's Mugo Odigwe reports Northwestern sweetened the deal last week following some major community pushback. The university said it would pay the city more than $150 million a year to the City of Evanston.
They were scheduled to vote on the $800 million stadium in a special meeting last Monday, but the vote was delayed.
The council on Monday night approved one of three measures to advance the controversial plan by Northwestern University.
