The Texas Secretary of State's Office said the calls were telling voters that Republicans would vote on Tuesday while Democrats and independents would vote on Wednesday.
At some locations, poll workers weren't sure how to set up the new machines and in other places, there weren't enough machines.
"Vote for Prop. 4 if you want to ensure in your lifetime there will be no state income tax," said State Sen. Pat Fallon of Prosper.
