Off-duty Cook County Sheriff's deputy killed in shootout at gas station

The new law requires insurance companies to cover all pregnancy, post-partum, and newborn care provided by doulas, lactation consultants, and midwives for a year.
The incident was reported around 4:30 p.m. at Illinois Canyon in the park.
The ages of the victims range from 3 months to 53.
Police said, around 10:40 a.m., a 16-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man were in the 2500 block of West 46th Street, when an SUV pulled up, and someone got out and started shooting.
Former Sangamon County Sheriff's deputy Sean Grayson has been charged with first-degree murder in Massey's death.
Pelt died while battling a house fire in West Pullman in April 2023.
