The two-car collision happened at on Willow Street near Coyote Creek.
According to officials with the Los Angeles Fire Department, the blaze has grown to 8-10 acres.
Police arrested Jade Benning for the killing of her former boyfriend in 1996.
Police were also alerted by a 911 call.
The pursuit began on the southbound 15.
