Detectives posed as a 14-year-old girl online, where they were contacted by the suspect who drove from Sacramento to meet them. Instead, he was met by deputies who arrested him.
The suspect was released after posting bail, deputies said.
The crash happened at around 5:30 a.m. near Anaheim Boulevard and Cerritos Avenue, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
The suspect, a woman in her 60s, is said to have approached a victim and demanded her money while holding her at gunpoint outside of a bank in the 5800 block of Green Valley Circle, police said.
Police say that of the 17 detained, seven were arrested.
