Police and emergency responders have been busy all night on Long Island. Slick, icy road conditions are to blame. The thin coating of wet snow and temperatures in the low 20s led to accidents.
The arrests are the fourth and fifth incidents of wrong-way driving in a month. Unlike the other incidents, however, neither arrest early Thursday involved accidents or injuries.
An off-duty New York City police officer killed in a crash with a wrong-way driver was remembered at his funeral as a man of religious faith who was devoted to his family.
