Big trades could dominate Sunday's 2013 NHL Draft at Prudential Center in Newark.
The Rangers announced on Friday that they will not use a compliance buyout on the former Conn Smythe Trophy winner, and he will be back with the team for the 2013-2014 campaign.
Mark Messier announced Thursday in a statement that he is resigning from the Rangers organization.
First, it was the Philadelphia Flyers announcing Briere's buyout, then the Lightning sending Lecavalier packing. Are the Rangers ready to break up with Brad Richards?
Vigneault needs to do what comes naturally for him, and that means developing offensive creativity on a team that's been nearly bereft of that commodity.
The Vancouver Canucks hired John Tortorella to be their new coach on Tuesday.
The hiring of ex-Rangers head coach John Tortorella by the Vancouver Canucks is an extremely risky appointment.
Vigneault is ready to breathe fresh life into the Rangers. It's going to be a new era of exciting, offensively-expressive hockey now that Vigneault is replacing John Tortorella behind the Blueshirts' bench.
Just over four weeks after he was fired by the Vancouver Canucks, Vigneault took over as coach of the New York Rangers on Friday — replacing the blustery John Tortorella three weeks after his dismissal.
"I don't really know what Mark is going to do," general manager Glen Sather told the New York Post. "He was very disappointed when I called to tell him that we were going to hire Alain."
Vigneault may not be a breath of fresh air, but he's not the restrictive leader that Tortorella was and that's good news for the Rangers.
"Here's what I don't understand about Yankees fans," Christie said. "The Mets stink. We're awful. And the Yankees are usually really good. So why do you boo us? You should feel badly for us."
Once hired, Alain Vigneault will find success in New York by being everything that John Tortorella wasn't.
Amid reports that Alain Vigneault is the New York Rangers' choice to replace fired coach John Tortorella, the team still isn't ready to make that announcement.
