The New York Jets are bringing in a pair of wide receivers and a kicker for a look-see, according to multiple reports.
Smith told the Charleston (W. Va.) Gazette that he's "prepared" and "getting better daily" as training camp nears at SUNY Cortland, where the rookie will be competing with incumbent starter Mark Sanchez.
If Holmes is not ready to play when training camp opens, the Jets could place him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
It would be a difficult decision for any coach, but Ryan seems to have a handle on it -- at least a better one than when he dealt with the quarterback situation during his rookie coaching season in 2009.
