Mets' DeGrom Misses Bullpen Session Because Of Sore Groin

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom was held out of drills and a scheduled bullpen session Monday because of a sore left groin.

"It's just precautionary," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "The other day he was running, kind of pushed off, and the turf gave way. He felt a little twinge. I said, 'Lets not get cute here.' We'll give him a couple days."

DeGrom said he started to feel sore Sunday but went through all the drills and felt fine. He threw on flat ground Monday and said he felt fine.

"I felt like I could have went today, but I think it was just being careful," deGrom said. "I didn't want to go out there and aggravate it more."

DeGrom was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2014 and 14-8 with 2.54 ERA in last year.

"His bullpen the other day was lights out — lights out — so, obviously, his arm is fine," Collins said, "Let's just take this slow."
