A 29-year-old man has been arrested on murder charges in the shooting deaths of his four children and their grandmother Sunday night at a home in Lancaster.
Officials with LAPD's Northeast Division said the approximately 40-year-old victim was transported to County USC Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Two of the victims were reported to be in critical condition when authorities arrived on the scene.
Witnesses said that the suspect approached Vargas and asked him where he was from. Before the father of two could respond, the assailant shot him in the chest.
Police say the boy had been playing video games in his bedroom when he was shot.
