According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the Covina Police Department began the standoff at about 4:30 p.m. SWAT is on scene. At around 7:50 p.m., police apprehended the suspect after using less-than-lethal weapons.
"It's the worst news a mother could ever get, the worst. I went crazy," Jenny Romero, the 12-year-old's heartbroken mother, said.
The security guard was arrested on suspicion of murder.
