Chicago police arrested 31-year-old Cornillus Acker on Thursday, in the 600 block of North Springfield Avenue.
Police said he suffered multiple gunshot wounds around the body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooting happened just after midnight, in the 8200 block of South Albany Avenue in the Wrightwood neighborhood.
The robberies happened Friday morning within an hour between 6:40 and 7:40 a.m. in the Brighton Park, Gage Park, Englewood, and Back of the Yards neighborhoods.
