The fatal shooting happened about 11:40 p.m. in the North Lawndale neighborhood. A 14-year-old boy was standing on the front porch of a home in the 1300 block of South Kostner with a two other people, when a car drove by and someone inside opened fire. The boy was shot in the back and later pronounced dead, police said.
About 6 p.m., a man was shot to death less than two blocks from President Barack Obama's Kenwood home. The 25-year-old was in a vehicle when another vehicle approached, and someone in that vehicle fired shots, police said. The victim drove to the 1300 block of East 50th Street, where the vehicle came to a stop, police said.
