The 15-year-old boy was shot on Racine Avenue in Auburn Gresham.
No arrests had been made late Tuesday, and detectives are investigating.
"He was a community man, and he just cared for others. He was very caring to other people, and so this is very devastating that this would happen to anyone, not just him."
