The law will require county jails across Texas to check with ICE to see if inmates are in the U.S. illegally or not.
"We've seen the action of ICE ramp up around the country. We've seen the dirty tactics of abducting, ambushing people in the hallways of courtrooms," said Noemi Jimenez, with Vecinos Unidos.
The shutdown comes after officers had a showdown with a protest against ICE and immigration tactics.
It was last week that Comeaux was seen and heard on a Fox News interview saying, "Pick another city. Don't come to Dallas, you are not welcome."
"A lot of this is mere speculation, and it was the unfortunate effect of causing fear in some parts of our community, and that's what I don't want to happen," Fort Worth Councilman Carlos Flores said.
The flight included 96 men and 26 women, ages ranging from 19 to 68, who were ordered to be deported from ICE detention facilities.
The DOJ sued Texas on Wednesday over a long-standing state education policy, which it says illegally favors undocumented foreign students.
For over 20 years, thousands of undocumented students have benefited from the Texas Dream Act.
Since the suspects were confirmed to be in the country illegally, federal immigration officials are now involved in the investigation.
Multiple sources have confirmed that at least a handful of people were arrested on the spot after their cases were dismissed in Dallas.
The officer whose traffic arrest of a 19-year-old undocumented college student led to her detention by ICE has resigned from the department.
"We as faith leaders are not going to be silent, we are going to speak up."
Oland Maurice McKenzie, 43, of Euless, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison, the DOJ said.
Organizers said the movement is much more than a march. They have plans for the future, which possibly includes a lawsuit.
