Federal authorities investigating the deaths of two University of Mississippi students have charged a store clerk and his son with selling an illegal kratom product.
The Texas Poison Center Network said that so far this year, it has received 192 reports of exposures involving kratom or 7-OH.
Found in a variety of products, the supplement known as kratom is currently banned in six states and Washington, D.C., as it faces scrutiny over addiction concerns.
Kratom is banned in six states but not in Texas.
Jasmine Adeoye, an account manager based in Austin, Texas, said she became addicted to kratom drink "Feel Free Classic," after she sought an alcohol alternative.
