Shardaa previously worked at KOKH in Oklahoma City for five years, where she was the morning reporter.
Prior to that, she reported in at KSN in Wichita, Kansas; and WJFW in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
A native of the South Side, Shardaa graduated from Columbia College Chicago, where she earned her B.A. in journalism, and is a proud graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School. She is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
When she's not chasing a story, Shardaa loves to spend time with her family, dogs and exploring the city. You can probably catch her at a Bears, Bulls, White Sox, or Cubs game.

Tomitra Fluker, a Reclaim 13 survivor advocate who was trafficked by a close family member, wears her trauma proudly.
"Everybody is going to see her story. Hopefully, somebody wants to help."
The formal wear comes from donations from the community and some from teacher Tyesa Walton's own closet.
Tensions are escalating in Evanston as hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters take over Deering Meadow.
A bank robber was caught just moments after a heist in Chicago's Loop, but it's what federal agents found on the suspect that's raising eyebrows: a note seemingly tying the robbery to anti-government sentiment.
"As a parent because I never want to see my son go backward from where he's grown so much in this school, and it's heartbreaking to see."
CPD Supt. Snelling said the 30-year-old officer was returning home when he was shot multiple times.
"We're there to provide the advocacy, the emotional support. When we assess those needs, we know how to help them and be there as much as they want us to."
A 1-year-old boy and a 7-year-old boy were also each shot multiple times. A 9-year-old boy suffered a graze wound.
"The offenders' actions, make no mistake, are horrific and unacceptable in our city," Chicago Police Area One Deputy Chief Don Jerome said.
"We don't have too many Black superheroes where I come from."
"We're going to miss all that he brought, the safety he brought for Lake County."
"It'll be like a Bears game for five days."
Millions of people will be looking up to the sky to witness the event on Monday.
