Female Illinois State Police leaders aim to add more women to force

Summer Day-Stewart, 36, was pronounced dead Thursday night. Their 7-year-old son, Ezra, was pronounced dead on Wednesday evening.
Vásquez Lasso's mother mourned her son, a five-year member of CPD killed responding to a domestic dispute in Gage Park. He was 32.
The funeral for Vásquez Lasso is set to take place on Thursday.

Prosecutors alleged the suspect, Steven Montano, tried to hide his firearm before encountering and shooting Officer Andres Mauricio Vasquez Lasso.
Charges were filed against the suspect, 18-year-old Steven Montano, on Thursday evening in the death of Officer Andres Vasquez-Lasso.
The officer was responding to a domestic incident in which a suspect was allegedly chasing a woman with a gun.
It has been months since Zambrano says someone stole his dog.
"I heard what I thought was knocking on the door. Three knocks. No one was at the door, but there was a crowd down the street. I guess it was gunshots."
There is a history of offensive "likes" on Vallas' Twitter account dating back to before he launched his campaign. On Friday, he told us his account was hacked.
"All of the plans that we had planned for, all of the desires that we had, changed overnight," Kateryna Shvartsman said of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
