Minnesota commutes man's life sentence

Minnesota's State Board of Pardons has commuted the life sentence of Myon Burrell, whose murder case angered criminal justice reform advocates. Burrell was released after 18 years in prison, after the Associated Press found no hard evidence tying him to the shooting earlier this year. He was 16 years old when he was sentenced to life for the killing of sixth-grader Tyesha Edwards, who was hit by a stray bullet inside her Minneapolis home.

Family caught between police and protests

Rickia Young, her toddler son and 16-year-old nephew were driving home in late October when they were caught between police and protesters. An Instagram Live video shows the officers smashing the windows and pulling all three out of the vehicle. The 28-year-old mother says she and her nephew were beaten and her son was taken from his car seat. Young shared her story for the first time to Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Anna Orso and joins CBSN's Omar Villafranca with more. (Warning: Some viewers may find images in this story disturbing.)
