Plumes of smoke rose hundreds of feet in the air above central Oklahoma Monday, a day after a controlled burn quickly spread. National Guard helicopters dropped water, but drifting embers carried by the wind sparked new fires. At least six homes have burned, and one man has been killed as thousands of people are still under evacuation orders. Anna Werner reports.

At least three people are dead after a gunman opened fire at a Jewish community center and an assisted care facility near Kansas City. Police have a person of interest in custody and the FBI has been called in to assist the investigation.
