There is confusion over a new curfew at Washington Square Park.
Crowds of rowdy people have been hanging out in the park until all hours of the night. Residents complain of loud music, lots of trash and bad behavior.
Changes are coming to one of Manhattan's most popular parks.
Greenwich Village residents say parties in the park are getting out of hand and leaving the area trashed on weekends.
Police said the suspect intervened while officers were in the process of stopping someone else for an alleged violation.
Police say the individual used an unknown instrument to puncture the front passenger tire of a parked police vehicle.
The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
It's believed that many of these incidents go unreported. The NYPD's anti-Asian hate crimes task force is encouraging victims to come forward.
Monday is International Women's Day. To celebrate, hundreds of area residents came out Sunday to honor women leaders and to call for action.
The suspect was last seen heading east on Washington Square South from Thompson Street.
